Before
Exploring the roots of
our silk-based era

Shinano Kenshi was founded in 1918 in the town of Maruko, Nagano prefecture as “Shinano Kenshi Boseki Co., Ltd.” The company name was intended to mean “the first silk spinning company in Nagano.”

Its founder, Yukinori Kaneko, started the business along with Zensuke Kudo, president of Yoda Co., which was a successful exporter as part of the silk union. In wartime, every single screw of equipment was carefully stored, with the belief that they needed to prepare for re-start of production when times of peace returned. As soon as the war ended, they were able to quickly reassemble the spinning machines and resume production.

Shinano Kenshi's goals and Employee Principles

The 4th president, Hachiro Kaneko, who vastly expanded the business from silk spinning to the field of electrical machinery and electronics, also created working regulations shortly after entering the company. The regulations were created in line with the enforcement of the Labor Standards Law. The notion of “Respecting Personality and Independence” in which employees take the initiative is the origin of the current president Motoaki Kaneko's Employee Principles and list of goals for Shinano Kenshi, which celebrates its 100th anniversary.

The desire to be “an irreplaceable, highly attractive company in the eyes of its customers,” with employees who feel that “the customer's happiness and their own happiness are one and the same,” and are capable of “taking the initiative to think and act” - This is the unchanging spirit of Shinano Kenshi. While constantly responding to changes and taking on challenges in new fields, we will consider and respond to risks as we continue to engage in future-oriented business activities.
